Fineart Forum

Fineart Forum is a moderated electronic newsletter published monthly via the Internet. Founded in 1986, the publication is one of the longest established electronic newsletters for the arts, providing information about new developments and opportunities in art and technology. It is well worth watching for its submission calls, announcements, and postings.

For the first six years Fineart was published by ISAST on behalf of ASTN. It is presently published by Mississippi State University (MSU). MSU runs the National Science Foundation Engineering Research Centre for Computational Field Simulation (NSF ERC) which has been supporting art and technology since its inception in 1990. It runs a number of interdisciplinary courses involving computer animation and electronic imaging.

Fineart Forum is currently edited by artist Paul Brown, a member of the MSU Arts faculty. Brown has previously founded the UK's National Centre for Computer Aided Art and Design and later helped establish Australia's Advanced Computer Graphics Centre. Brown has published in Europe, Australia, and the USA.

Fineart Forum is distributed on the first of the month. Subscribers also receive Leonardo Electronic News on the 15th.

2000 update: fineArt forum is now a part of the Communication Design program at the Academy of the Arts, Queensland University of Technology.
