The rosters can be searched by a series of keywords, permitting you to find an individual, soldiers of a certain rank, date of enlistment, place of enlistment, engagements in which they fought, whether they were wounded or killed, whether they deserted, when they were discharged, and much other other incidental information.
Here's an example: Type "Baylor". You will see a list of seven men with the last name of Baylor. You will also see that W.S.H. Baylor was a lieutenant-colonel who enlisted on May 28, 1861.
