CSDK Colloquium on Computational Law

April 11, 2017

The Center for the Study of Data and Knowledge (CSDK) is holding its next colloquium on Friday, April 14, at noon in Cocke Hall 108. Presidential Fellows in Data Science Faraz Dadgostari (Systems and Information Engineering) and Mauricio Guim (School of Law) will speak on “Computational Law.” They have been developing computational models for legal research, hoping to develop more efficient search techniques of legal decision that will help provide better access to relevant court documents and precedents.

The Center for the Study of Data and Knowledge (CSDK) at UVa is a Data Science Institute Center of Excellence devoted to investigating data science as a new form of knowledge. They are hosting a series of colloquia this spring that look at data-driven collaborative research in the humanities and interpretive social sciences.
